Rubber Gym Flooring Installation

High-quality rubber cushion in 4mm, 6mm or 8mm, permanently adhered to the subfloor — comfortable underfoot, quieter than bare concrete and built to stay put.

Bare concrete is hard on the people who train, play and work on it all day. A rubber cushion floor adds give to every step, quiets footfalls and protects the slab underneath. We install it in sports complexes, gymnasiums and anywhere else a cushioned floor is needed.

Our cushion is high-quality rubber in 4mm, 6mm or 8mm, permanently adhered to the subsurface so it won’t shift, curl or creep like loose mats. The system is simple — subfloor, adhesive, rubber — so the quality is in the prep and the install. Fast Times Tennis has been prepping concrete and asphalt for sport surfaces since 1987.

Why Rubber Cushion Flooring

Shock absorption

Rubber cushion absorbs part of the impact of every step, jump and landing — something bare concrete can’t do.

Comfort underfoot

Less fatigue for athletes, coaches and staff who spend hours on their feet.

Permanently adhered

Glued down across the whole floor — no mats to straighten, no edges lifting, no gaps opening up.

Quieter footfalls

Rubber softens the sound of footsteps compared with a bare concrete slab.

Protects the slab

Covers the concrete so day-to-day scuffs and wear land on the rubber, not the slab.

Three thicknesses

Choose 4mm, 6mm or 8mm cushion to match how the space is used.

4mm vs. 6mm vs. 8mm Rubber Flooring

Every option is the same high-quality rubber cushion, permanently adhered the same way — only the thickness changes. Thicker cushion means more give underfoot.

4mm: Firm & Stable

The firmest option — a solid, stable feel with a touch of cushion underfoot.

Best for multipurpose rooms and spaces that want comfort without much give.

6mm: Balanced Comfort

The middle ground — more give than 4mm while staying firm and stable underfoot.

Best for gyms and training spaces with a mix of activities and steady daily use.

8mm: Maximum Cushion

The thickest cushion we install — the most shock absorption and comfort of the three.

Best for spaces with lots of jumping and landing, or people on their feet for hours.

How an Adhered Rubber Floor Is Built

  1. 4mm, 6mm or 8mm cushion High-quality rubber cushion — the finished floor people walk, run and play on.
  2. Permanent adhesive Spread across the whole subfloor so every inch of cushion is bonded down, not just the edges and seams.
  3. Prepared subfloor Your existing slab or subsurface — cleaned, repaired and leveled so the cushion bonds down flat.
Three layers, bonded together — the rubber cushion is permanently adhered to your subfloor, not laid loose on top (not to scale).

How We Install Rubber Gym Flooring

Site Visit & Estimate

We walk the space, check the subfloor and talk through how it’s used, then put a recommended thickness and price on a free, written estimate.

Prep the Subfloor

The subfloor is cleaned, repaired and leveled so the cushion has a flat, sound base to bond to.

Adhere the Cushion

Rubber cushion is rolled out with seams butted tight, permanently glued to the subfloor and rolled down for full contact.

Final Walkthrough

We check every seam and edge, clean up the site and walk the finished floor with you before we leave.

Adhered floor vs. loose mats

Loose rubber mats are quick to put down, but over time they shift, curl and creep apart — leaving lifted edges to catch a toe and gaps that collect dirt.

A permanently adhered floor is glued to the subsurface across the entire area. Seams are butted tight during the install, and the floor stays flat and stays put — one finished floor instead of a patchwork of mats. It’s a bigger commitment than loose mats and isn’t meant to be picked up and moved, but it’s a floor you don’t have to keep straightening.

Picking a thickness — and where it fits

We install rubber cushion flooring in sports complexes, gymnasiums, training spaces and other areas where people need a forgiving surface under their feet. Planning a heavy free-weight area? Tell us up front so we can talk through whether this cushion is the right fit — and if a space really needs a different kind of floor, we’ll say so.

Thickness comes down to how the space is used: 4mm for a firmer, steadier feel, 6mm as the balanced middle ground, and 8mm when comfort and shock absorption matter most. We’ll recommend one after we see the room — call (724) 388-0467 to set up a free, written estimate.

Common Questions

We install 4mm, 6mm and 8mm. Thinner cushion feels firmer and steadier; thicker cushion gives more comfort and shock absorption. We’ll recommend a thickness after we see the space and hear how it’s used.

For a permanent space, usually yes. An adhered floor won’t shift, curl or creep, and there are no loose mat edges lifting up. Loose mats still make sense where the floor has to be picked up or moved.

Yes. We clean, repair and level the slab first, then permanently adhere the cushion so it bonds down flat.

It’s designed to stay. The cushion is fully bonded to the subfloor, so plan on it as a permanent part of the space rather than a floor you pick up and move.

Price depends on the size of the space, the condition of the subfloor and the thickness you choose. We measure on site and give you a free, written estimate — no online price lists.
